A Wave of Compassion is a film about why we choose to disconnect from self and others rather than connect. Although this documentary focuses on alcoholism and drug addiction, those are just the obvious faces; the film delves far deeper than a "Just-say-no" approach. Instead it chooses to explore what is missing in our lives, in our experience on this earth. It asks the questions, Why are we disconnected, and how does that breed addiction in our culture?

A Wave of Compassion explores addiction from a new angle, one that embraces compassion for and discovery of the sensitive side of our human spirit which, without nurturing and guidance, we will choose to alter by any means if in the moment it takes away our pain. What is the source of our pain? If we can understand this for ourselves, perhaps more leaders and guides can help our children embrace the beauty of who they are rather than conform to a standard that perpetuates addiction and dis-ease.
