The Inner Self is our personal center of the universe. It is a hybrid-ego, a part of our self that has evolved in these past decades as a type of “inner guide”, assisting us in the exploration of our “inner space”.  Our Inner Self emerged simultaneously as our social or collective mind became aware of the importance of self-empowerment, self-esteem, self-help and all the other categories of inner development that furthered our passion for individuation. We are the generations who are pioneering outer and inner space.

I’ve been intrigued with our “inner self” for years and how, why and what its full capacity is in our on-going development as human beings.  Decades ago, a perception seemed to just “drop into human consciousness” that human beings never before considered: We create our own reality. My parents – and their parents and so on – would never have considered such a thought. The extent of their “reality” was that they were “responsible” for their life and the choices they made, defined by their commitments, social and civil behavior – the obvious rules of life.

We, on the other hand, have extended our range of co-creation skills to include our health and healing, our inner well-being, shifting the quality of our life path, imagining our potentially perfect mate, creating our ideal lifestyle.  We began to believe – and probably still do – that the sky is the limit, if we could only access that inner power and channel it like an oil pipeline in the right direction. (And as a rule, that right direction means the direction of everything we want to have, get, own, possess, become in our life.)

Early on in my work in the healing field, I shared this emerging enthusiasm for the creative potential of our inner self. Because I taught and worked in the field of health (and for many of those years, with C. Norman Shealy, M.D., Ph.D), we sincerely believed that people held an inner potential to defy the “laws of ordinary medicine” through activating inner resources of energy, focused will power, and a commitment to common sense life changes. And we did witness many people improve their health – but not in the numbers that we had anticipated, given the numerous healing methods that were becoming increasingly available. Advances in allopathic and tradition medicine (that increasing accepted the body/mind/spirit approach through the years), often merged healing practices. Yet, it seemed something our understanding of something was missing.

Every researcher is in search of that something – and maybe there are many “somethings”. I’m sure there are. For me, that missing piece was that we had an incomplete understanding of the nature of our own power – how we actually work, how co-creation actually works through the power of our choices. In short: we lacked a cosmic or spiritual understanding of our fundamental design as spiritual beings engaging in acts of co-creation.

Today, and no doubt for the rest of my life, I will hold to the view that this “energy field” that we call the life force is in truth the “Light force”, pure divine consciousness, holy substance. Every choice we make directs that holy substance into an act of creation using the mystical laws: Choice and consequences; action and reaction, gravity, magnetic attraction and so on.

The motivations, beliefs, emotions, agendas of our inner self determine the quality of the Light that transfers through us and into each choice, like filling the center of an empty pasta noodle. That filling is our Light, animating an action into an act of co-creation. The greatest choice we can make in any and all ways is Love.

Now then – you are more powerful than words can describe. But I am going to spend my time with you at Paso Robles introducing you to your Inner Self as the power being that it is. You do co-create your reality. That is a truth, but it is a mystical truth. And a mystical truth needs to be understood through your soul, not your mind. As I witnessed through my years in the healing field, the mind is not capable of fully healing. Grace is required. The power and Light of the soul is necessity. (Mind you, not religion, but your soul – that Light within you that transcends reason and even your will power).
