What is the purpose of life? I have given many answers to that question through the years, as perhaps many of you have. Today, I can only offer one response, though I consider this answer to be a type of “living, breathing response”, a type of lens through which I now view the Universe, the domain of the Divine. Exploring the purpose of life is really a mystical question, a cosmic quest. I have discovered through the years that mystical questions never end in final answers. How could the quest to understand the purpose of life have a final answer? Mystical questions never come to an end point. Rather, they are clever pathways of light, drawing us ever deeper into yet another mystery, one delicious unanswerable question attached to another like an endless string of soul-pearls.

Eventually you discover that the journey, the quest itself, is the answer to your question. The unfolding sojourn gradually reshapes your understanding of life, God, who you are in the scheme of life and the conscious power of nature. And one day, the search for personal answers ends all by itself, evaporating into meaninglessness. And without effort, what appears on the horizon of your inner awareness is an invitation into a far grander reality itself – the impersonal, cosmic nature of the Universe. Then, ask those same questions again. Instead of, “What is the purpose of my life?”, you simply want to know, “What is the purpose of life?”

You realize that if you can glean an understanding of the nature of life itself, you will find a place for yourself within the theater of life. You are no longer the subject of your questions. Lesser questions become replaced with soul-sized curiosity to understand more about the consciousness of life itself, purpose and evolution, Divine order, and our subtle partnership with the forces of creation consume your attention. That’s when the Universe begins to shine its Light upon you – you finally are getting your spiritual sea legs.

I believe that life is this precious, holy journey of realizing that we are the agents of co-creation, not the victims or subjects of some off-planet god or random forces of nature. We are active engines of creation. The most extraordinary truth is that we are co-creating even at the quantum level of our existence. We are always participating in acts of creation – and realizing that truth, that is embodying that truth completely, is called enlightenment because we really do become “more light than matter”.

We are living at an extraordinary time in human history – the era of self-realization. Mystical truths are awakening into the mainstream of life, into our understanding of health, and making their way into how we relate to nature. We are in the foothills of a bio-spiritual-ecological relationship with creation – and this is organic Divinity. All creation is an expression and manifestation of the Divine. While traditional religions slowly fade into the background, gradually human beings are threading the consciousness of their souls into the holy, organic fabric of the Universe, finally accepting that all life is connected to the Divine inner net.

These are some of the questions and topics that we will examine at length because the more you understand your own power of co-creation, the more you are able to realize that the true purpose of life is not the acquisition of power, but our capacity to empower all living beings.
