The Fire Inside

Hi Everybody,

I’m delighted to be here with Matthew Fox to talk about his new Reflections Parallel course “The Fire Inside” which starts next Tuesday, February 7.

These are perilous and challenging times. But they’re important times and it’s a great gift to be alive now because we all have a role to play in moving our species ahead to its next state of awareness and consciousness.

And John of the Cross is an amazing guide for our time because he himself lived through tremendous political upheaval. He speaks to us through his poetry, and generations have derived inspiration and a sense of calmness through his poetry. So we want to explore that poetry, and how it speaks to us today in the 21st century. Like all the great mystics, John of the Cross speaks to our hearts, as well as our heads, and to our sense of courage and sacred activism.

We sometimes think that because people lived many years ago, that their relevance is not as important today, as it was then. But in fact, the writings of great mystics, their wisdom is timeless. I think this class is going to be exceptional, and I hope you’ll be with us when we start next Tuesday.
